Tattoos have become pretty common over the past few decades, and it seems that every year more and more people are adorning their bodies with this special form of art. The one problem with tattoos, however, is that they’re permanent. So if something goes wrong or you simply have regrets, the only thing you can do is undergo the painful and expensive process of having them removed.
This was exactly the situation that Pasuda Reaw from Thailand found herself in — she didn’t like her tattoo, but she couldn’t afford to have it professionally removed with laser surgery. That’s when she decided to try a different method that was much less expensive. But she wasn’t prepared for the pain this decision would lead to.
Pasuda decided to try the «Rejuvi» technique to remove her tattoo. This method involves injecting pigment into the tattoo that slowly brings the tattoo ink to the surface of the skin over a period of weeks. The procedure is supposed to be much faster and less painful than laser surgery, but Pasuda soon found out that this wasn’t the case.
Pasuda had the procedure done on February 4, 2017, and when she returned home the pain was so intense that she couldn’t sleep. She stayed up all night crying and the pain continued for days. Her skin began to change color and the tattoos warped into strange shapes. The ink was coming out, but the side effects were horribly excruciating.
Soon Pasuda had a huge open wound on her chest. The skin was like raw flesh, with blood and pus everywhere. By March 2 the tattoo was gone, but in its place was a massive scar.
«What is left is worse than before. I don’t recommend this treatment because it hurts so bad and takes a long time. Laser is a lot of money but I wish I had done that. At times the pain of the itching and the scar were unbearable,» explained Pasuda.
Two months after the Rejuvi procedure, Pasuda still has terrible scarring on her chest. Her decision to remove her tattoo only left her skin looking much worse. «I shared pictures as a warning to others to be so careful about what they do,» said Pasuda.
So if you have tattoos that you’re not happy with and are considering having removed, be sure to do it the right way. Although it’s expensive, laser surgery is the only way to safely remove tattoos and should only be performed by someone with the right qualifications and experience.
