Everyone knows that tattoos are a permanent commitment, but still, people everywhere find themselves regretting their ink jobs. While tattoo removal has come a long way, it’s still a very tedious and painful process.
The most common tattoo removal procedure is via laser, but one woman in Thailand decided to try an alternative chemical technique. This method ended up having painful results and leaving agonizing scars on her body.
Now, Pasuda Reaw is sharing pictures of her recovery on Instagram to raise awareness about this tattoo erasing technique that left her in serious pain.
21-year-old Pasuda Reaw had a large floral tattoo spanning across her chest. She wanted to get it removed in order to look more professional at work.

Pasuda Reaw, 21, had the large red rose tattooed across the chest last year but later wanted it removed to look more professional at work. She tried Rejuvi - a chemical method applied to the skin - in Feburary but within days the area had become itchy and painful. The laser-free alternative applied with a small tattoo gun claims to raise ink pigments to the surface of the skin and create a scab that can be peeled off. But two months later, Pasuda said she has suffered ‘’torturous pain’’ and been left with an unsightly scar across her chest. The art student from Udon Thani, northern Thailand, said she did not like the tattoo anymore and wanted it removed for when she was working. She said: ‘’At first Rejuvi seemed like a good way to remove the tattoo. I did not want to use lasers. ‘’I began the treatment and immediately it was itchy and hurting a lot. The skin has taken a long time to come off. It was like torture and I could not sleep. ‘’What is left if worse than before. I do not recommend this treatment because it hurts so bad and takes a long time. ‘’Laser is a lot of money but I wish I had done that. At times the pain of the itching and the scar were unbearable. ‘’I shared pictures as a warning to others to be so careful about what they do.’’ Pasuda said that after returning home from the clinic on February 4 she ‘’could not sleep’’ because of a stinging sensation. She cried all night and ten days later the area had started to fill with puss and the skin was peeling. On March 2 she pulled off the tattoo, leaving wounds on the skin. By May 7, there was still a large pink raised scar. Pasuda’s tattoo has now been removed but she has a large mass of pink scar tissue on her chest. Reaw opted for a laser-free tattoo removal technique, which uses a cream to bind together the tattoo’s pigments to the surface of the skin. Afterward, a scab develops that removes the ink along with the cream when peeled off.

1“At first [the procedure] seemed like a good way to remove the tattoo,” Reaw told Daily Mail. “I did not want to use lasers. I began the treatment immediately and it was itchy and hurting a lot.”

3

Unfortunately for Reaw, the pain from the procedure was far from over and became more regrettable than the initial tattoo itself.

Reaw opted for non-laser tattoo removal in early February and says that after returning home, sleeping was a nightmare due to the constant stinging sensations.

10 days later, Reaw’s tattooed area began to fill with pus and the skin began to shed creating a grisly sight. “It was like torture and I could not sleep,” Reaw said.

Almost a month later, Reaw was finally able to pull off the tattoo scab, which left painful wounds on her chest. While her tattoo ink may have been removed, the procedure resulted in a large mass of pink scar tissue.

“What is left is worse than before,” Reaw told Daily Mail. “I do not recommend this treatment because it hurt so bad and takes a long time.”

The reason why Pasuda Reaw opted for an alternative to laser removal, like many others, is the drastic price difference. However, Reaw has now learned that you get what you pay for.

“Laser is a lot of money but I wish I had done that,” Reaw stated. “At times the pain of the itching and the scar were unbearable.”

Even after three months, Reaw’s scarring remains prominent on her chest, which has prompted her to share her recovery on a day-by-day basis to show the potential dangers of the procedure.

“I shared pictures as a warning to others to be so careful about what they do,” Pasuda Reaw told Daily Mail.

This alternative tattoo removal technique was founded back in 1988 and the company states that a tattoo may be removed in four sessions “using a high specification digital permanent makeup machine.”

According to one of their spokesmen, their products are used in over 30 countries worldwide and over 100,000 treatments have been performed.

Being frugal is great, but when it comes to getting a tattoo or having it removed, it’s important to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting into and the potential long-term effects.

Pasuda Reaw may have regretted her rose chest piece, but her massive scar has left her with even more regret than ever before.
